ChatGPT enters a new agentic era

OpenAI is rolling out Tasks, a beta feature in ChatGPT that lets users schedule future actions and reminders, available exclusively to Plus, Team, and Pro subscribers.

Here's what you need to know:

  • To set up tasks, switch to “4o with scheduled tasks” on the model picker and type your reminder prompt. ChatGPT can also suggest tasks based on previous chats.

  • You can manage tasks directly in your chat threads or through the "Tasks" section in the web version under the profile menu, where you can modify or cancel them easily.

  • Notifications for completed tasks will be sent to users across web, desktop, and mobile platforms.

  • You can have up to 10 active tasks running at the same time. If you reach that limit, you must pause or delete tasks to create new ones.

  • The feature is still in beta, so there are a few limits, like no voice task setup and no support for continuous background searches or transactions.

Why it matters:

Tasks move ChatGPT closer to being a versatile AI companion, potentially reducing the need for other apps like Siri and Alexa to manage reminders.

This update also aligns with OpenAI's reported plans to launch "Operator," an autonomous computer-controlling agent, in January 2025, signaling a broader push toward AI-driven productivity.

Krea AI's latest feature transforms 2D images into 3D objects that seamlessly integrate into any background. Its real-time editor allows users to move, rotate, and position objects within scenes, instantly generating images with objects in different placements. Best of all, this cutting-edge functionality is completely free to use.

Recently, a high school student and GitHub user ading2210 has managed to port the classic Doom 1993 into a 6.5MB PDF that can be played in a browser. While it lacks color, sound, and runs at a sluggish 80 ms per frame, it's still functional. The only requirement is a PDF reader that supports JavaScript, typically available in Adobe Acrobat or most modern browsers.

Luma Labs’ Ray2, an AI video model leaked on Monday, promises more realistic physics and smoother motion than OpenAI's Sora. It can create 10-second videos from text or images, featuring advanced cinematography and natural object interactions, including humans, animals, and vehicles. Early testers praise its ability to make videos look lifelike, with one filmmaker calling it “Holodeck is coming” after seeing a tightrope walker video. Ray2 will soon launch on Dream Machine and AWS Bedrock but isn’t available yet.

China's Black Panther 2.0 robot has set a new world record, running 100 meters in under 10 seconds, surpassing the previous record held by the quadrupled robot HOUND in 2023. Weighing 83 pounds and standing 2.07 feet tall, it features carbon-fiber enhancements for added stiffness and cheetah-inspired shoes for better grip, enabling it to mimic the movements of both panthers and jerboas.

Luma has integrated its latest Ray2 model into the Dream Machine platform, with 10x more computing power than its predecessor. The model can generate high-quality video clips up to 10 seconds long from text prompts, featuring advanced motion and physics capabilities. It currently handles text-to-video with image, video-to-video generation, and editing capabilities are expected soon.

LinkedIn has unveiled an AI-powered Job Match tool that analyzes user profiles to recommend the best job opportunities. Additionally, it introduced a recruitment AI agent to help businesses craft job postings, identify top candidates, and manage applications. Both tools offer free basic versions, with premium features available through subscription plans, aiming to streamline job searching and hiring processes.
